EGG DONATION TREATMENT

REQUIREMENTS FOR AN OOCYTE DONOR

Using donor egg is safe, legal, confidential and anonymous.

The age of the donor must be between 21 and 35 years.

Donor eggs will be sourced from the woman from the agency / ART bank.

Egg Donation is done for women who are unable to use their own eggs, due to a variety of conditions like

  • Women who have had IVF where poor egg quality was found on repeated cycles of treatment.
  • Women with advanced age and poor ovarian reserve.
  • When there is a risk of transmission of some genetic disease from woman.
  • Premature ovarian failure and menopause.
  • Due to fertility problems of women resulting from chemotherapy, surgery or illness.

Use of eggs donated by a relative or a known friend of either the wife or the husband shall not be permitted.

It will be the responsibility of the fertility clinic to obtain donor women from appropriate ART agencies. Recipient couple shall not have the right to know the donor identity and address.

The individual must be free of HIV and hepatitis B and C infections, hypertension, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, and identifiable and common genetic disorders such as thalassemia.

The blood group and the Rh status of the individual must be determined and recorded.

Other relevant information in respect of the donor, such as height, weight, age, educational qualifications, profession, colour of the skin and the eyes.

Family background in respect of history of any familial disorders isnoted.

A donor must relinquish in writing all parental rights concerning the offspring and vice versa.

No ART procedure shall be done without the spouse’s consent.

The ART clinic shall not be a party to any commercial element in donor programmes.

Baby's DNA will only come from the egg donor and the sperm provider. Women using embryo from egg donation will not share her genetic information with their child.

The process of finding an egg donor requires time and careful consideration. It may take few months to find a suitable donor. Once the donor is finalized both the parties need to sign a contract and settle financial aspects.

Doctor and the centre will not be responsible for any mutual contract, financial, travel, stay and accommodation issues of the donor.

The recipient / intending couple are required to sign the consent forms for willingness to undergo donor IVF cycle treatment.
